PhotoHunter: Daily

Daily:

I have to remind myself to remain patient.

That it isn’t easy for her, either.

That I need her as much as she needs me.

That one day she we’ll lose the “her” that is her.

That’s what Alzheimer’s does…

    Dear Anneke,
Beautiful photographs. I admire you so much for taking care of your mother. I know your “daily” life must test your patience. I know this because even though my grandmother did not have Alzheimer’s, she lost her memory in a similar way. She could ask the same question twenty times and forget that he had just received a reply.
Your photos are so precious. You can see that she is still herself in these images. A wonderfully personal post. Thank you for sharing this.

I am late with visiting other PH-posts. Thank you for stopping by my snow-pictures.
    My very best wishes,
    Anna

What beautiful keepsake photos!!! I have so much respect and empathy for caregivers such as yourself, but I know that when she is gone you will never be sorry for the time and effort and most importantly love, that you gave freely.
Thanks for dropping by and commenting. See you again soon?

oh, this is such a lovely post. it reminds me of my father who was a victim of the disease. though i was not there for him on a daily basis because i live far, each visit was melancholic – to see someone who was a fortress to us that was slowly falling into pieces.

God bless you for being there for your mom, for being a good daughter.

Beautiful. We all need to count our blessings daily. “Teach us, O Lord, to count our days, for then we shall gain a heart of wisdom.” (Moses, Ps 90)

    I played, too. Happy weekend!

Lovely photos of your mother. She looks happy here and you have to take this journey with her one day at a time. I’ve been there with a close friend so I know what it is like. Hugs to you both.

Lovely entry. You sound like a great daughter — and she a mom who has given you a lot of love.

She sometimes says “What would I do without you?”. My reply is “What would I do without you?”
