Photo Hunt: Closed

This week’s Photo Hunt theme is “Closed”. The opening of a book and the closing of it.

“…all mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated; God employs several translators; some pieces are translated by age, some by sickness, some by war, some by justice; but God’s hand is in every translation, and his hand shall bind up all our scattered leaves again for that library where every book shall lie open to one another.” John Donne – Meditation XVII

Jessica Brooke Engelen-VanDenHeuvel

My niece, Jessica, was born on March 31, 1989. She died tragically in a fire, on May 12, 2004.

I’ve come back to this post several times because, as you know, I know the story of Jessica, but couldn’t think of anything to say. Still can’t. So… *hug*

Thanks. The thing that makes things so… difficult… is that my grand-niece, the daughter of Jessica’s half-sister is heading in the same direction as Jessica. She’s been running away, getting in with the wrong people, dabbling with drugs, cutting herself, all sorts of other things. We are praying that history doesn’t repeat itself.

Sorry to “hear” about your niece Jessica’s too short life. Re John Donne: he’s also the fellow who said “no man is an island”. How right he was/is!
