Superstition kills

The case of a Dalit (a so-called “Untouchable”) in India, murdered ostensibly because she was accused of being a witch. In fact, the murder was because she chose to be an independent woman, did not show “proper” deference to higher caste elders, and was owed a substantial amount of money by someone who borrowed from her. We see how neighbours conspire to hide the truth and police routinely ignore complaints of murder, often as a result of bribery.
